Safety and placement guidance for your sculptural vessel, indoors and out
01
02
The Stability Kit is an accessory and is ordered separately: a sealed bag holding 7.5 kg of quartz sand that sits in the base of the vessel. We recommend it for every size, indoors and out. Place the bags before planting — once planted, the base is no longer accessible.
How much ballast
Ballast is counted in bags, not in fill level: one bag is 7.5 kg, and up to six can be ordered at a time. The taller the format and the more wind-exposed the location, the more bags. The sand lowers the centre of gravity and stays invisible beneath substrate or planting. Tell us the size and the location and we will work out the number with you.
03
Indoors, no anchoring is required. We still recommend ballast: it keeps the vessel in place if someone knocks against it. For tall formats, several bags make sense.
A planted vessel weighs many times its empty weight once ballast, substrate and water are in. The most common damage to wooden floors is not the scratch but the moisture ring: whatever sits under the base no longer dries out. Protection therefore depends on format.
Up to 60 cm
Felt glides under the base are sufficient. They prevent scratches when the vessel is moved.
From 80 cm
A dimensionally stable disc in hard felt, or a thin plate with a felt backing. It spreads the load instead of concentrating it on a few points. Plain adhesive felt pads are permanently compressed under this weight and leave marks.
Always, regardless of format
Use an inner pot. Water then never reaches the vessel floor, and the floor beneath stays dry. This is the most effective protection and largely settles the felt-versus-rubber question.
04
A firm connection to the ground is the only safe outdoor installation. Ballast reduces the risk; only anchoring rules out tipping.

05
The object is weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. As with any tall, free-standing object: when storms or strong winds are forecast, secure it additionally or bring it indoors temporarily. Check ballast and stability after severe storms.
06
The lacquer carries UV protection, yet permanent exposure can still change any finish over time. That is natural ageing, not a defect.
07
08
The object is a decorative, sculptural vessel for planting and interior design. It is intended to be placed with ballast in its base, indoors as well as outdoors. Outdoors, firm anchoring is added and is mandatory there.
The following are not intended uses and are not permitted:
09
Responsibility for placement. Responsibility for safe placement lies with the buyer, or with whoever installs the object on their behalf. This covers a load-bearing location and ballasting appropriate to the format and the location. Outdoors, proper anchoring is added. Please follow the guidance on this page.
Limitation of liability. Harmony & Apollo accepts no liability for damage resulting from missing or insufficient ballasting and anchoring, unsuitable placement, frost damage from standing water in the vessel, improper cleaning, any use contrary to section 08, or force majeure. The same applies to installation, consequential or loss-of-use costs.
Unaffected by this is statutory liability for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and liability under product liability law.
Please check the object for transport damage on delivery and note any damage clearly on the delivery note.
For permanent outdoor installations in exposed locations we are happy to advise individually.
